Bibby Distribution & Toyota win top award
Leading logistics provider Bibby Distribution has won a prestigious customer service award for its work with long-standing customer Toyota.
The successful project involved Bibby implementing a national same-day delivery service for automotive parts to 260 Toyota and Lexus service centres. It was recognised by judges at the annual UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) Awards at the Dorchester Hotel for its integrated approach to supporting its customer in delivering customer service excellence.
Service centres place parts orders by midday and parts are delivered from local warehouses by 3pm, allowing customers to collect their vehicles later on the same day eliminating the vehicle staying overnight in the workshop awaiting the conventional parts delivery.
Following a pilot project conducted from Toyota’s national parts centre in Lutterworth, the service has been rolled out nationwide; five same day service depots are located across the UK, each carrying up to 12,000 stock lines.
Hundreds of thousands of lines are now picked and delivered through the service annually and service centres are able to track where parts are via satellite using information streamed from delivery drivers’ PDAs.
